Smart Aerial Monitoring System
Easy Aerial’s tethered SAMS (“SAMS-T”) is a fully autonomous tethered-drone-from- a-box solution that can stay in the air for over 24 hours while transmitting HD video and telemetry through the connected power line (data-over-power technology) avoiding the need for radio transmission. The “Alpine Swift” drone is used in the SAMS-T configuration. This system self-deploys without human intervention within a few seconds following a remote command or ground sensor triggering event. In addition, Easy Aerial’s products include capabilities to automatically detect abnormal activities using custom Change Detection Algorithm (“CDA”).
SAMS-T has been sold to the US Air Force as part of the rapid deployment program for US Air Force base security, subsequent to having been awarded a ‘Golden ticket’ from the USAF AFWERX ‘Protect Our Troops’ challenge. These Easy Aerial units are scheduled to be deployed next month (August) at Travis Air Force Base (“AFB”) in northern California. Easy Aerial products contain only qualified traceable parts and only Amercian made parts for the key elements of the system (communication, autopilot). The drones are built, assembled and tested in Brooklyn, NY.
● Selected as the winning solution for the US Air Force AFWERX ‘Protect Our troops’ Challenge in May 2018.
● Successfully demonstrated to numerous US AFB Commanders throughout the US, at a facility near Las Vegas in July 2018. Demonstrated and presented at the USAF marathon weekend at Wright-Patterson AFB in September 2018. Featured at the USAF AFWERX booth at the ASIS/GSX18 conference in September 2018.
● Received SBIR Phase I from the USAF in November 2018 (AF 183-005).
● Participated in a Joint Search and Rescue activity organized by the US Navy (JIFX19-2) in February 2019.
● Received SBIR Phase II from the USAF in March 2019.
● Accepted to participate in the DHS Next Generation First Responder (“ NGFR”) Apex Program – Birmingham Shaken Fury OpEx in March 2019.
● Selected for the USAF AFRL Technology Accelerator program (“ TAP ”).
● Accepted to participate in the Department of Defense (“ DOD ”) thunderstorm 19-2 event scheduled for July 29th in New York City.
● Demonstrated and sold systems in the US, Europe, Israel, Thailand, Japan and Central Africa.
Current use of the system
SAMS and SAMS-T are cost-effective, rugged and reliable solutions for perimeter security, border security and incident management, which has been deployed to and implemented by several critical security and aerospace companies throughout the world.
Most common applications include: (1) Providing perimeter fence security; (2) Providing situational awareness and security in extreme situations – following a natural disaster (first responders) or following an attack; (3) Providing security or monitoring at event venues (public gatherings, sporting events, demonstrations); (4) Providing monitoring coverage following a fire or flood event. (Please see Figure 1 for sample installations).
US Border Security requires specific features such as deployment in extremely remote locations, severe and different weather conditions and requirement to quickly deploy systems that can stay in the air for over 24 hours. Potential adaptations which have been identified from the commercially available products are listed below (we expect to identify more during further discussions with the CBP):
● Integrate two EO/IR cameras on the same drone.
● Ability to automatically detect changes (CDA) unique to CBP operational requirements.
● Integrate with CBP command and control systems and/or other payloads used by the CBP.
The SAMS-T allows for a constant eye-in-the-sky and is ideal for border security and incident management applications (such as border security, fires, sports events, demonstrations, etc). Since all communication in the SAMS-T solution is transferred via the power line it is also considered very safe from cyber security standpoint. Both SAMS and SAMS-T can be deployed on stationary locations (such as a rooftop, fence or in a remote location), as well as on mobile emergency response vehicles and standard pickup trucks.
The Power Guard is an add-on product to the Easy Guard which is designed to sit at the base of the pickup truck. The Power Guard unique design perfectly fits an Easy Guard and holds it in place. The idea of the Power Guard is to provide remote electric power to the Easy Guard for a long period of time without the need to use a fuel based generator.
